I HAVE THE BABY. NOW WHAT?

You have prayed hard for this day. You received Hallmark cards, diaper cakes, and enough onesies to dress a village for your baby shower. You saw your baby’s heartbeat on the monitor with tears in your eyes. With everything you have, you risked it all and went into labor. Ready or not, you were bringing this tiny human- the LOVE OF YOUR LIFE- into this world.

Fast forward till today. Here we are, lying in our bed, scrolling through Instagram with our chubby baby breathing next to us. Our HEARTS are so full, our feet tired, but our minds cannot stop thinking, “I HAVE THE BABY. NOW WHAT?”

A million questions often fill up our minds: “Am I doing enough? Am I giving them the right kinds of food (organic, gluten-free, sugar-free ingredients)? Are they doing enough activities? How do other moms set up full-blown sensory stations for their kids? Will my kids end up in therapy if I don't? Just the thought of cleaning up rice all over the floor is making me want to crawl into a fetal position under my blanket!"

In between loads of laundry, cleaning crumbs of goldfish on the floor, wiping away milk spills, and flying pretend airplanes into tiny mouths...it is so easy for us mamas to feel overwhelmed. We can easily get lost in the world of “a million things.”

My sisters, beautiful warriors of God. Let us be reminded today, that we are NOT in the business of raising superhumans. Our main purpose in motherhood is NOT to raise mini Elon Musks filled with superfoods, clothed in branded items, carried in state-of-the-art strollers, perfectly stimulated by doing 5 sensory activities per week. In the kingdom of God, we are simply called to shape our children's hearts to know God and to make Him known. That’s it.

So out of a million things we have to do today, a MILLION questions running through our head, what is the ONE thing we can do today to bring them closer to God?

It might be jus ta simple act of laying hands over our babies when they nap, or listening to worship songs together.

Just one simple thing.

Matthew 6:31-33 "So don't worry about these things, saying, "What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear? These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows ALL your needs! SEEK FIRST the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously, and He will give you EVERYTHING you need!
