WARRIORS

WARRIORS.

My beautiful sisters in Christ. If all of the tasks of motherhood seem daunting to us, today God’s words are about to encourage us. In Psalm 127:4-5, God defined us parents with an uplifting word: WARRIORS. The original Hebrew word for warrior is “gibbor,” which means mighty, powerful, champion, strong, and valiant!

Wow! Is that how God really sees us? The last time I checked, I didn't have the traits or characters to become such a warrior. I don’t have the experience, courage, nor skill to do this parenting gig, let alone winning a spiritual battle for our children.

Well, beautiful mamas, this is the time when God’s truth needs to supersede our feelings. This amazing verse in Psalm 46:5 will answer the storm of doubts inside of our hearts: “God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.” This verse was written for the city of Zion, during a war and turmoil against an enemy...and the city was on the brink of a massive collapse. God gave this promise to His people in that city, the Jews, that He is within them and THEY WILL NOT FAIL!

Mama friends, sometimes we might find ourselves on the brink of a collapse…our kids are refusing to cooperate or maybe we’re navigating new uncharted waters of teething, separation anxiety, puberty, and other unexpected changes. We might be facing external challenges, health scares, homeschooling issues, while facing a global pandemic. Sometimes we might feel like our emotional health is about to collapse. Let God’s promise be a FUEL to your warrior hearts today. GOD IS WITHIN US. WE WILL NOT FALL. This is His battle to win, not ours. God is our ultimate SOURCE of strength, wisdom, and enabler. We just need to draw strength from HIM.

Psalm 127:4-5 ends with more encouragement: “BLESSED is the man whose quiver is full of arrows. THEY WILL NOT BE PUT TO SHAME when they contend with their opponents in court.”

This week, let’s fix our eyes on Jesus- so we can confidently say to our children, “Follow me, as I follow Christ!”
